Which straps fit your STERNGLAS watch depends mainly on the lug width of your watch.
If the width between the two lugs matches the width of the strap, the strap can generally be fitted.
How do I find the right strap width?
You'll find the required width on the product page of your watch, in the technical details.
For many STERNGLAS models, the lug width is 20 mm, for example. However, there are also models with other widths.
It's therefore always important to check the details for your specific model.
Can I use any STERNGLAS strap with the matching width?
In principle, the lug width is the most important criterion.
If your watch has a lug width of 20 mm, for example, you'll need a strap that is also 20 mm wide at the lug.
Depending on the design of the watch and the strap, the look, strap thickness and fit can vary. We therefore recommend choosing preferably from the straps offered on our website for your watch or the corresponding strap width.
How do I find matching straps in the shop?
The easiest way is to use the filters in our strap category.
Select the matching strap width for your watch there. This way, you'll only be shown straps that match your watch in terms of lug width.
If you know your watch model, you can also check the product information to see what strap width is needed.
Can I swap between leather, metal and textile straps?
In many cases, yes.
As long as the matching lug width is maintained, you can combine your watch with different materials, depending on the model, for example:
- leather strap
- metal strap
- textile strap
- other strap variants offered for the respective model
This way, you can change the character of your watch with just a few simple steps.
With metal straps in particular, be sure to check that the strap is explicitly suitable for your model or the corresponding case shape. The fit of the end pieces can vary depending on the model.
How do I change the strap?
Many of our straps feature quick-release spring bars.
There's a small lever on the back of the strap. If you pull it to the side, the spring bar shortens and the strap can be released from the lug.
When fitting:
- First insert one side of the spring bar into the designated hole on the case.
- Pull back the small quick-release lever.
- Position the second side of the spring bar between the lugs.
- Carefully release the lever.
- Then gently pull on the strap to check that the spring bar is securely engaged on both sides.
This way, you can change many of our straps without any additional tools.
My strap won't fit – what can I do?
Please don't use force.
First check:
- whether the strap width matches the watch
- whether the spring bar sits correctly in the strap
- whether both ends of the spring bar move freely
- whether you're fitting the strap the right way round
- whether the spring bar engages in the designated holes on both sides
If the strap can't be fitted despite the width being correct, feel free to send us a photo of the watch and strap.
Can I also use straps from other manufacturers?
In principle, straps from other manufacturers can also fit, provided they have the correct lug width and a suitable design.
However, we can't guarantee the fit, quality or compatibility of straps from other manufacturers.
Especially with metal straps that have specially shaped end pieces, you should make sure they match the case shape of your watch.
Can I choose a different strap for a new watch?
Our watches are always offered as a combination of watch head and strap, exactly as you see them in our shop.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to directly exchange the included strap for a different variant within the same watch order.
This is due to our logistics processes: every combination we offer is already prepared in such a way that storage, ordering and shipping can be handled reliably and quickly.
I'd like a different strap straight away – what are my options?
If you'd like to wear your new watch with a different strap right from the start, you can order an additional strap and swap it yourself once it arrives.
When buying a watch, there's also the option to order an additional second strap at a reduced price.
This way, you can switch between different materials or colours and wear your watch differently depending on the occasion.
Does the clasp from my previous strap fit another strap?
Not necessarily.
In addition to the lug width on the watch case, the width of the strap at the clasp also matters.
If you'd like to keep using an existing clasp with a different strap, both measurements need to match.
If you're simply changing the entire strap, including its matching clasp, you normally don't need to worry about this.
My wrist is very narrow or wide – which strap do I need?
In addition to the lug width, you should also pay attention to the length of the strap.
Depending on the strap model, the total length can vary. You'll find the relevant measurements on the respective product page.
If in doubt, measure your wrist circumference and compare it with the details given for the strap you want.
I no longer know my watch model
